A last minute entry into the talented @homsweethom 's Letterwest scholarship. :)

I'm fairly new to the lettering world, having only learned of the art a few years ago when I started my first grown-up design job and happened to be seated next to the insanely talented @jill_dehaan . Watching her create beautiful letterforms with such apparent ease was mesmerizing and even a bit intimidating. The idea of capturing a feeling not only with words, but in their forms was an entirely new concept. Eventually I dared to give it a try and verily slowly and with many failures and crumpled paper balls of trashed attempts, I began to get some basic grasp of it. As both a designer and illustrator, I've found a sort of middle ground in lettering that I love and adding it into my work has helped me find and develop my style. Now, as a full-time freelance designer I feel the ability to letter has helped my business grow, however I would love the opportunity to continue to learn from lettering legends like Jill and become more proficient and confident in my lettering. @letter_west seems like the perfect opportunity to do just that! Plus eating scrumptious food and meeting rad letter lovers seems like a most killer time to me. ⚡️
